The Responsible Generative AI for SMEs in UK and Africa (RAISE; https://raise-project.uk/) project focused on understanding the practical challenges Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) encounter when using or developing products with generative AI. Its main goal was to provide these SMEs with actionable guidance on implementing responsible AI practices.

The project worked on co-creating and updating guidance for SMEs, addressing issues like the lack of control over AI tools, evolving AI ethics, the extra resources required from SMEs, cultural impacts, regulatory changes, and the rapid pace of generative AI development. RAISE tested its guidance in real-world commercial SME settings and shares its findings through workshops, case studies, and policy briefs.

This presentation will be given by P. Ochang and B. Stahl, the researcher and PI on the project. We will present the work undertaken by the project and some of the key findings and outcomes.
